  1. What is your name and where are you from?

"Terry Olson, Columbia Heights, MN."

  1. How long have you been officiating?

"20 years High School, 26 years USA."

  1. Do you officiate any other sports? 

"No."

  1. What inspired you to become an official?

 "My kids were out of winter sports and I was looking for something to occupy our Mn winters."

  1. What do you enjoy most about officiating?

"Working with newer officials helping them understand what it takes to get yourself networked, and how to manage a game. Also hanging out working games with fellow officials I now consider my friends." 

  1. What has been your favorite officiating memory or experience?

"So many fun times it's hard to pinpoint. Probably the several High School Sectional finals or Youth State Championship games I've worked."

  1. What is the biggest lesson you've learned through officiating?

"I am also a retired 20-year High School Girls Fast-pitch coach, so the mix taught me how to communicate and see the game through coach's eyes."

  1. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming an official?

"Don't expect working up the ladder quickly have patience and the games will follow."

  1. What keeps you coming back season after season?

"It’s in your blood."

  1. Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of officiating you'd like us to share?

"Just spending time with Family watching grandkids compete and a bit of golf."

"The picture is me on the left and a very good friend 40-year official Mark Lodge who passed away a few years back. One of the many friendships I acquired over the years. Mark and I enjoyed many postgame beverages over the years."
